Blessed Are They That Mourn, Free Coloring Page Matthew 5:4

Free Matthew 5:4 Sermon on The Mount print and color page.

This printable coloring page is from the first part of the sermon on the mount, often referred to as the beatitudes. I often thought that it is wonderful that the highlight of his teaching is not a bunch of rules like the Ten Commandments but a bunch of blessings.

It is a great kids' craft or coloring page for adults to enjoy too. I started to create coloring printables when I was a helper in the Awana Club in our church.  Coloring in the letters helps to learn and memorize the scripture. You are welcome to use it in your Children's church, Bible class, VBS, Sunday school, or any children's outreach.

 Matthew 5:4,

"Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4.

I used graph paper and drew the letters on it, then traced the letters onto the picture. I tried several times to get the angels and grieving figures to look right. It took many attempts and tracing it over, but I feel it turned out the way I wanted it to look. I hope you like it.

If you have trouble printing this, visit the HOW TO PRINT tab. There are links below that may print.

PRINTING

If you have trouble printing, CLICK HERE to see my how-to-print page, where I have included some suggestions that may help.

Try printing on heavier paper stock, such as cover stock or card stock. Then, you can use various media, such as water-based markers or paints.

THE VERSE
This is a classic Bible verse of encouragement that is useful for a Gospel lesson.  The verse is a wonderful scripture. It teaches us to be assured that God can be found by those who seek Him, so we must continue seeking Him, because it promises that He will be found by us. Calling on Him gives us the idea that God will hear us and show Himself if we pray.

To learn more about this verse, CLICK HERE to go to a hub of commentaries on it.

MY ART

It takes me hours to draw these coloring pages, but I am glad to draw them because I love God's Word and hope they bless you. My coloring pages are free; you can print as many as needed.

I had a lot of fun drawing this picture for you.  I did it all freehand and traced some of it several times; I used a lightbox and a fine-tipped marker to trace over it until I was happy with the outcome.

COLOR THE PICTURE

There are large bubble letters that can be colored in. If you use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils, such as my favorite, Prismacolor, you can get into the smaller areas. You can find Prismacolor pencils at Michaels or Hobby Lobby; coupons are usually available online.
  • The letters are big enough to color in.
  • The background has a Bible on the horizon and a scene of the cross on the mountaintop.
  • The foreground features a figure using a telescope to illustrate that he is seeking the Lord.
  • The telescope is pointed at the words in the Bible.

PROBLEMS PRINTING?

Sometimes people have trouble making the picture print properly and if you have trouble making it fit the page, then CLICK HERE to visit my  HOW TO PRINT page, where I have collected some helpful tips.

THIS IS MY ORIGINAL ART

This picture took a long time to create. It shows a man floating in a bathtub in front of a house's door frame, and behind the door frame, the top of the house is floating in the water. The fireplace is in the background. There are many stormy clouds in the sky.

I drew the letters by tracing them over graph paper. I drew the picture two or three times before I got it right, and then I had to trace it onto the paper using an artist's lightbox and a Sharpie pen. I wanted to get the whole passage on the page. I think the picture has a little humor and can still be used as part of a teaching lesson for the kids.

HAVE FUN COLORING THE PICTURE
There are many creative ways it could be colored.  The water could be any number of blues and the sky, but you could make the sky stormy.

Blessings, and thank you.

THE ART
This took a long time to draw. I used graft paper, drew the words, and then traced them using a fine-tipped marker and an artist's lightbox. It took a couple of tries to combine everything into the picture.  The picture took a few tries, but I think it turned out nice. I wanted to get the whole verse in the picture. I hope you like it.

There are many opportunities for young artists to be creative with this picture. If you use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils like my favorite, Prismacolor, you can get into the smaller areas.
