This is issue 184 of BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY.  

Every week I create another Bible activity mini-magazine for kids in church. It is like a bulletin, but bigger, so I call it a min-magazine. It has pictures to color, puzzles, and fun activities. ABOUT ISSUE 184

This issue has a lot of great activities for kids of all ages, and as always, every activity puzzle and coloring picture focuses on a Bible verse.

I have more than one favorite puzzle in this issue. I am delighted with the word puzzles where you fill in the shapes and one where you fill in the grid. They make me use more logic than I am used to because I'm on the creative side. It is good to see them work out so meaningfully.

The Code-breaker puzzle was a surprising amount of work. I created a code using symbols. The problem was that they were of varying sizes on the page and looked jumbled. I had to redo the code so it looked good, but the sentences didn't fit the page between the original and the repair. Some words wrapped themselves between two lines, so I couldn't distinguish them because they were in the code. I had to break the code and solve the puzzle, which was hard because the words were broken and wrapped between lines. After the fourth or fifth attempt, it worked out. It has five clues, and that should be enough. 

Two pictures are from a couple of years ago, and one is new. 

Most of the activities have opened ended questions for you to engage the kids in a discussion.

ABOUT ISSUE 183

You will enjoy the fun coloring pictures, puzzles, and activities. I'm pleased with the "Give to Cesar" find the difference activity (in the subscriber's version). It has a drawing of a hand holding a coin, and since drawing a hand is difficult for me, I traced it over several times to get it right. I am thrilled with how it turned out. 

My favorite puzzle in this issue is the hidden letter. It takes a long time to place the letters and nudge them around to fill up the space and ensure there are correct letters. It was very satisfying to have it all work out nicely this week. 

As usual, there are three Bible verse coloring pictures (the subscriber's version has three, and the free version has two). They all are in my style, but I tried to make each one different. They have a lot of smaller areas for the kids to do, and adults will like them too. 

The Code-breaker puzzle (in the subscriber's version) only has two clues again, but like last week it is such a simple puzzle that if I had given more clues, it would be too easy. Hint- it is a basic "slip" code. 

I tried to cram in as much as possible into the word search puzzles; I hope you enjoy them. 

The word puzzles, like the shape sort and the grid puzzle, took longer to design than I liked. It had little problems, but they turned out okay after some reworking.  

Most of the activities have opened ended questions for you to engage the kids in a discussion.

COLOR THE PICTURE 

This picture can be beautiful when you color it.

• Use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils to get into the more delicate areas. 
• Use more than one hue of green for the vines and leaves.
• The frame bars can be a contrasting color. 
• The background can be pale. Using tan or light brown will give it a parchment-like appearance, like an ancient manuscript. 
• The letters can be colored in; I like to use a color other than black for the words.

ABOUT ISSUE 182

One of the most challenging activities to create was the find the difference feature. It is the ram caught in the bush when God provided Abraham with the sacrifice. I had to squeeze all the elements into the area with no margins, and it took a lot of tries before it worked out. 

There are three coloring pictures. The first coloring picture looks difficult because it has tiny areas to color. It would be a good one for colored pencils or fine-tipped markers. Older kids and moms will appreciate it. The other two coloring pictures have open areas that are suitable for children. 

I hope the "Find the Difference" activity is not too hard. Believe it or not, there are six differences between the two drawings.  

The code breaker puzzle is a straightforward slip code. The two clues are enough because the order is in sequence. I suspect that these have been too hard in the past. 

I spent a lot of time on the word search puzzles. 

Most of the activities have open-ended questions for you to engage the kids in a discussion.

Issue 181 has many exciting activities for all ages.

One of the most challenging activities to create was the find the difference feature. (in the subscriber's version)  It is the ram caught in the bush when God provided Abraham with the sacrifice. I had to squeeze all the elements into the area with no margins, and it took a lot of tries before it worked out. 

The coloring pictures are all beautiful. The cover picture is my favorite. I had to trace the artwork three times, and after I put it on the computer, I cleaned it up before merging it into the page. 

The Codebreaker puzzle (in the subscriber's version) has five clues, two are the least used letters in the passage, and the other clues are the most used letters in the puzzle. This combination gives the right amount of challenge without being too hard. 

I feel that this issue has a nice balance between worship verses, discipleship, and knowing God's nature. 

There are open-ended discussion questions for most activities to help you launch into a discussion.

My favorite coloring pencils are Prismacolor pencils because they are brilliant and blend well. You can find them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby stores. You can usually find coupons for good discounts. 

There are lots of flowers to color in. They can be different colors.

The leaves can be different greens.

The border can be something different than the other colors. 

I like to color the background something soft and pastel. 

The letters can be colored in; I like to use something besides black for the words.

ABOUT ISSUE 180

This issue was a real struggle to put together. Most of the puzzles and activities needed many revisions before they were right. Even though it was a lot of work, the results were worth it. I know you are going to enjoy this children’s activity Mini-magazine. 

One of my favorite puzzles is the Code Breaker (in the subscriber's version). I used different animal icons to create a basic substitution code. I hope it captures the interest of a lot of kids. The verse is 1 Timothy 1:7.

I was happy with the crossword puzzle until I found that I had to reorder the squares and recreate them at the last minute. 

There are some verses about God, like Revelation 1:8 and Psalm 18:2, Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 46:10, and the memory verse is Hosea 6:6

There are verses about Jesus. Like John 10:9-10Colossians 3:15-16 1 Corinthians 15:3. 1 John 4:9.

There are some to live life verses from proverbs. The find the difference activity is based on Exodus, where Moses prayed with uplifted hands. Exodus 17:8-13  

I’ve written open-ended discussion questions so you can engage the kids in a spiritual conversation as they are doing the activities.

ABOUT ISSUE 179

In this issue, there are a lot of fun puzzles, games, and pictures to color. The activities use a variety of scriptures. They include commands to love as in John 13:34-25, bear burdens, Galatians 6:2, childlike faith Mark 16:13-16, faith in God Proverbs 16:9, 1 Peter 5:7, contentment 1 Timothy 6:6-9, who is Jesus? Matthew 16;13-16, the self-sufficiency of God, Psalm 50:9-12, and more.

One of the coloring pictures is a reprise from an issue two years ago. I chose it because John 14:6 is a powerful gospel verse. The Proverbs 16:9 coloring picture is like a stained glass window and gives large areas for little hands to color. The cover coloring picture is 1 Chronicles 16:8, a scripture that calls us to worship. I had to trace it several times and then clean it up when I scanned it into the computer. It was very time-consuming, but I am delighted with the outcome.  

I tried to balance challenging puzzles with easier ones to give everybody some fun. 

Some of the puzzles always take tons of effort to design. For example, the shape sort puzzle (in the subscriber's issue) uses Proverbs 6:16-19 and needed many revisions before it was ready; sometimes, the clues to the word didn't fit or could have had several answers. Another is the crossword; the clues are always a challenge because you can only use a word or two that will lead you to the correct answer, but the clue is a word out of context and can have multiple meanings, so they can backfire if you are not careful. 

The activity that I call the explorer's challenge is one that I may have overdone in the past. I am making it easier with fewer actions and more straightforward instructions. I hope this is an improvement. 

I am thrilled with the various elements of art.   

As always, most of the activities have discussion questions. 

There are favorite features like the read the Bible bookmark for this week and the memory verse card craft.

ABOUT ISSUE 177

This issue is full of fun stuff. I'm delighted with how it came together.

There are several verses about God, like 18:4, Psalm 100:5, Psalm 107:9, Psalm 103:13-14, and Psalm 50:1. 

There are gospel verses like Romans 10:13 and Revelation 3:20.

There are scriptures about living a good life, Philippians 2:13, Colossians 3:23

The eight pages have puzzles, coloring pictures, word search, crossword, scrambler, and more. 

I hope people use the memory verse craft to make a card to help memorize the scripture. And I hope people are developing a habit of reading the Bible by using the weekly Bible passages bookmark.

Like other issues, there are discussion questions formatted as "Let's talk about it" or "Let's talk," I pray that your conversations with the kids will bring them nearer to the Savior through God's Word.

ABOUT ISSUE 176

I do not plan these with a theme, but often some verses share something in common. Three scriptures inspire worship; 1 Peter 1:3, Psalm 33:1, and 2 Samuel 2:2. Some verses talk about the Gospel; 1 John 4:9, Romans 10:13, and Psalm 103:12. There are other scriptures about life issues like Proverbs 22:1.

Some of my favorite things in this issue are the drawings. I copied and edited a picture of youth with hands held up in worship for Psalm 33:1. It is something I've drawn before and is one of my favorite characters who shows up now and then. The find-the-difference picture (in the subscriber's version) was originally a homeschool drawing lesson. It would have taken an evening to draw new, so I was glad to have it available for the verse on faith from psalms 20:7.

The code breaker (in the subscriber's version) was one of the hardest things to design for this issue. I tried to devise a different way to make the code this time. I used emojis and symbols. I gave a lot of clues.    

Like other issues, there are discussion questions formatted as "Let's talk about it" or "Let's talk," I pray that your conversations with the kids will bring them nearer to the Savior through God's Word.

COLOR THE PICTURE

This picture can be beautiful when you color it. Use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils to get into the more delicate areas. My favorite coloring pencils are Prismacolor pencils because they are brilliant and blend well. You can find them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby stores. You can usually find coupons for good discounts.
