Kids' Bible Verse Activity Bulletin Issue 97

Issue 97 of BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY  has 4 pages,  (bifold), of activities for kids in Church, club, camp, school, and home.

WHAT BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY IS

Every week I make an activity bulletin for the kids in church. I started to do this a few years ago, and I like to think they meet a need. I usually put 10 activities in a bulletin. This one took all week to create. It should be printed double-sided and then folded in half like a bulletin. Two pages are for older kids and two are for younger but they can be stapled together into one unit. 

I spend hours and hours on these. 

WHAT IT HAS IN IT

I try to pack as much as I can into these 4 pages.

• 2 PICTURES TO COLOR, Jeremiah 29:11, and Matthew 5:6. 
• 1 CROSSWORD, puzzle that uses Matthew 5:16 as the source text. 
• 1 MAZE, using Colossians 3:23,  in the maze, 5 words are guided back into their place in the verse.
• 1 DROP WORD PUZZLE, where some of the words are removed to a word bank, one letter of each word is in its place to be a clue where the words go. 
• 1 BIBLE MEMORY VERSE TRADING CARD of Psalm 19:14a.  The kids cut it out, and color it, then paste the two sides together. 
• 2 WORD SEARCH puzzles. One uses Habakkuk 3:17-18, and the other uses Matthew 4:18-19. 
• 1 WORD SCRAMBLE. You get to unscramble the words of Isaiah 40:28, 
• 1 MINI BIBLE STUDY. I call it the EXPLORER'S CHALLENGE. This one is for 1 John 4:9-10. In it, you draw a box around certain words, circle some, and underline others.

One of the things I am excited about is the, "Let's talk about it," feature. Each verse activity is accompanied by an open-ended question to spark conversations.  

I am not a graphic designer or layout person. I love to draw and paint and I love God's Word and I love his children. I do the best I can, and I hope it is something the Lord can use. 

EXTRAS

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME

The important thing for me is God's Word.  I spend a long time searching for scriptures that are meaningful and challenging. I look up the verses in different translations and choose the one that is clear and age-appropriate without jargon or churchy words.

MY DESIGN FOR IT

Each page is designed to be printed in landscape and then folded in half. You can center staple them into a little booklet and give them to kids for church activities and outreach. They can be put into Easter baskets and goody bags.

I designed every activity around a scripture verse that relates to the Gospel, Easter, and the Person of Christ. It is like a fun gospel tract. I took a long time choosing the verses and finding translations that are age-appropriate for vocabulary and meaning, so it is not all in NIV or NASB, but I used about 5 different translations for the clearest message of each verse. 

I gave every activity a footnote question that parents and teachers can use to teach and share the Gospel. 

ITS ORIGINS

This Easter activity bulletin is an expanded special of the one I design every week for my supporters. THE VERSE

This is one of my favorite verses in the book of acts and it has always motivated me to study the Bible a little every day.

This is a scripture that challenges us by the example of the ancient people of Berea who were reverent with God's word and searched the scriptures daily to see if the things they were taught were the truth. It is an attitude we need today in our world where people just believe what they are told at face value.  

Acts 17:11 says.  Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11.

COLOR THE PICTURE

If you use colored pencils or fine-tipped markers then you can get into all the little corners of the drawing.  

There are a lot of ways that you can make this into a beautiful picture. There are a lot of flowers around the Border that can be a source of color. 

The corners have some people reading The Bible that you can color in different colors from the flowers. The frame bars can be a different and contrasting color.  

The letters are opened and can be colored in too, try something other than black like blue or brown. Remember you can color the background too.

BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY Issue 96 is now available to supporters

BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY is an activity bulletin I create for some friends every week.  This activity bulletin I created has 8 pages of scriptural activities like crossword puzzles, word search, maze, and word puzzles. It takes me a crazy amount of time to research design and create these bulletins, but I receive such positive feedback that I am compelled to continue to make them.

THE ART

All of the art is original. I spend a lot of time drawing the coloring pages.  These are not the same tired old pictures of Adam and Eve, David and Goliath, or Noah and the ark. Instead, I try to illustrate a Bible verse or two so that as the kids are coloring the letters to the verse, they engage with God's Word. 

"LET'S TALK ABOUT IT"

I put a lot of thought into the "Let's talk about it," feature.  Each verse has an open-ended discussion question so parents and teachers can use these activities to move into spontaneous teaching sessions.  

Here is a peek at what issue 95 has to offer. Below, you see two of the four pages. Each has a right and left column with different activities in each column.

Some activities are very easy for the younger students, and a few are more difficult for the older ones (I suspect adults are doing these too).

The design is perfect for printing on both sides and folding. The two sheets can be center stapled into a little activity book for the kids in your class, club, or church.

Free 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Easter Print and Color Page, According to The Scriptures Bible Verse

Here is my 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Printable Easter verse coloring page.

WHY I CHOSE THIS VERSE

I chose to do this verse because it is one of those verses that covers so much. I first became impressed with it when my church was teaching a class on outreach. It was one of the scriptures that was taught as an outline for the Gospel. It is a verse that I helped kids memorize in Awana Sparky Bible Club at my church. 

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 says,  "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures," 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

MY ART

I am very happy with the way the art turned out in this picture. I spent two days designing the background image and the overall structure of the printable.  I wanted the picture to have the cross and the tomb but also to be a celebration of the Gospel.  I sketched the picture several times and then traced it over two more times. After I scanned it into the computer I use the paint program to create the frame and the text.

I really like it and I hope you do too.

A FEW IDEAS ABOUT COLORING

This picture can be powerfully beautiful when you take your time with it. Use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils, then you can get into the finer areas.  The letters can be colored in, so get creative and pick a beautiful color for the words. The shrubs can be more than one green, as they are further back they should be paler. The rocks and ground can be brown, sandy tan, and even a little grey. Consider using purple, lavender, and violet for the shadows and inside the tomb. The sun's rays can be yellow, or orange.  You can color the sky blue and leave the clouds white, or add a little pale color to the clouds like rose, lavender, and yellow like the dawn.

Free Kid's Bible Verse Wordsearch with James 1:13-15

I made this word search puzzle for the Bible activity bulletin I publish every week for my friends who support my blog.  This word search uses the words from James 1:13-15. 

I created this on my computer. I know there are subscription services that create word search puzzles for but my word search has to fit in a smaller space than those will allow. My format is for a bulletin, meaning each page has two cells or columns that way it can be folded in half. So my puzzle has to be smaller and I have to make it custom. It takes about three hours from start to finish. 

I create these because Christ has changed my life through his word and I believe he can change anyone who comes to him. I hope these activity bulletins will be a tool that he uses to call followers.

THE VERSE

Each bulletin has 10 verses and I spend a long time to prayerfully select them. 

James 1:13-15 says,  "When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." James 1:13-15.

WHAT YOU SEE 

In the image below you see the word search on the left side, that is because it is designed like a bifold bulletin.  This is actually page 1 of four. The right side of page 1 has a coloring picture, but it is only available to subscribers who support my work through Patreon. You can use Microsoft word to cut and paste other content into that space. Below the word search is a question for thought and discussion.  In the activity bulletin, each of the 10 verses has a question for discussion so parents and teachers can prayerfully launch into a meaningful talk.

HOW YOU CAN USE THIS

You can use this word search activity in a class as an extra time activity. If you are teaching a lesson on James 1:13-15 you can give this out as part of the lesson.  Combine it with other printables and give it to the kids as they leave church or class.  If the Parents get a bulletin when they come into church why don't the kids? Print these for the ushers to give out.

Free 1 Peter 1:3 Easter Coloring Page, With the Living hope Bible verse

Here is an Easter print and color page I created for you. It is 1 Peter 1:3. 

Below are three images; one in English, one in Spanish, and one in Chinese.

ABOUT THE ART

I tried to take a shortcut since I am doing multiple images to include Spanish and Chinese, but the shortcut was not really much of a shortcut. I started by reusing a few images from previous coloring pages I created in the past year and tried to combine them together. But what I thought would be an easy cut and paste turned into a multiday project. I ended up not using some things and redrawing the background image anyway.  As with any creative project, when I am done I see, "Just one more," "little" change that would make it better, and so I spent a lot of time redrawing the sun's rays. I used the computer to create the lettering and layered them over the image, it is the only way when I do more than one language. 

Even though I worked on it for so long I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it.

ABOUT THE VERSE

1 Peter 1:3 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," 1 Peter 1:3. 

This is a verse that tells us many things about the resurrection. It should draw praise and worship from us, as well as gratitude.  It reminds us about the mercy of God.  It celebrates the new birth. It is interesting that the verse puts the phrase, "living hope" next to the word, "resurrection," The resurrection is a hope and a thing we participate in through Jesus Christ.

I believe in God's Word. And I believe that it is living and has the power to change lives. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and believe he offers salvation free to all who come to him. COLOR THE PICTURE

I recommend colored pencils or fine-tipped markers. You can color the flowers a lot of different colors. There is a scene at the bottom that can have earthy colors. The rays of the sun can be yellow or orange and if the sky is blue there will be a brilliant contrast between the two colors. The letters are opened and can be colored, try to use something besides black on the letters like red, blue, brown, or orange.. The frame bars can be a different color and can be bright as an accent or dull to give the other colors more brilliance.

John 15:5 is a favorite for many. It has been written about songs have been sung about it art like the print by EloiseArt have been created, and entire books have been written about this one verse. It is also one that has been a source of controversy for many people of faith.  It is a scripture that teaches us that we must remain in Christ to be fruitful. It tells us that Jesus is the source of the fruit in our lives, not a formula, religion, creed, or discipline. 

John 15:5 says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing" John 15:5.

ABOUT THE ART

I did take a few shortcuts with this one.  I used some designs from earlier drawings I had lying around and used the computer to layer and paste it all together. I wanted to do something with drama and the theme of producing fruit, so I transposed the script over a grape drawing on a vine. I always do a border so the picture will look complete, and for this one, I reused a simple border with a few flowers. I didn't want to overdo the art.  I am thrilled with how it turned out, and I hope you like it.

COLOR THIS PICTURE

If you use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils, this can look beautiful. The letters are opened so you can color them in. There are vines and flowers around the border to color.  The image behind the text can be purple and green or red and green like most grapes are.  You can try coloring the letters a pale color to stand out against the dark background, or switch it around and use a pale background and dark letters in the foreground.

I hope you create a masterpiece!

THE VERSE

John 11:25-26 is often quoted and found in Easter cards. It is a favorite verse for the Lent season. It is a scripture that gives hope for eternal life. It is one of the "I am statements" of Christ. It says, "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26.

ABOUT THE ART

I spent two evenings drawing and tracing the background image. I wanted to make an exciting picture worthy of the teaching of the scripture it is illustrating. After I finished drawing it, I scanned it into the computer and spent the morning cleaning it up. I used the computer to enter the letters. It took a long time, but I am overjoyed with how well it turned out. I hope you like it.

COLOR THIS PICTURE

If you use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils, this can look beautiful when you are done. The letters are opened so you can color them in. Consider putting a little color in the clouds like pink, salmon, or violet, so it looks like the sunrise. The rays of the sun can be yellow, orange, or white. The landscape can be any combination of earth tones. The distant mountains can be blues, lavender, or violet. The cross can be brown or grey.

ABOUT THE VERSE

This verse is one of promise and clarity.

In English translation says, "To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  John 8:31-32.

In the Chinese translations, it is " 31 耶稣对信他的犹太人说：“你们若常常遵守我的道，就真是我的门徒， 32 你们必晓得真理，真理必叫你们得以自由。"

ABOUT THE ART

I spend hours creating coloring pages like this, I do it because I love God's Word, and I hope they are a blessing to you.

I have other coloring pages of this passage, but when I felt led to do a Chinese version, the previous art did not seem to work with the beauty of the characters of the words. I have not studied Chinese art, so I fell back to my comfort zone and made a border of flowers. I wanted to balance being simple and meaningful at the same time. I started the process by tracing some art that I had created before and then used that art for the border. I had to trace it over a second time, and after I scanned it into the computer I had to spend half a day cleaning it up. The characters were computer-generated. I am very happy with the contrast between the round random flowers and the precise lines of the lettering.  I hope you like this coloring page.

COLOR THIS PICTURE

If you use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils, you can make a beautiful picture out of this image. The flowers around the border can be all the different colors you like. The frame bars can be a contrasting color. The letters can be colored too, try using something besides black for the letters like blue, purple, or brown. The background can be colored with a pale hue to contrast the letters and the flowers. I hope you create a beautiful masterpiece and God blesses you through the scripture.

ABOUT THE VERSE

This is a wonderful scripture that tells us much about the obedient and humble character of Christ. It tells us that he was willing to become a servant because it says, He made himself nothing,"  in other words, he was not forced. He took the nature, or heart, of a servant.  His obedience was complete. He obeyed all the way to death on the cross where he became the atoning sacrifice for mankind. That is why this verse is often used in reference to Easter,

Philippians 2:7-8 says rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:7-8. 

ABOUT THE ART

The border art took three evenings to draw. I traced it several times to get it right and then I had to scan it into the computer and work on it for a couple of hours to clean it up. I hope you like it.

COLOR THIS PAGE

If you use fine-tipped markers or colored pencils you can get into all the tight corners.  This can become a very beautiful picture if you take your time with it.  There are lots of flowers around the border that can be a source of color. The vines can be different greens. The ribbon can be a contrasting color. You can color the letters to the words easily. Consider using blue or brown for the letters.

ABOUT THIS VERSE

This wonderful scripture gives us hope and reason to worship the Lord. 

Ephesians 1:3 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." Ephesians 1:3. 

One can't help but to wonder at what these spiritual blessings might be. The idea of "every" suggests that they are complete, and nothing is lacking and maybe they are infinite!

ABOUT THE ART

I prefer to do all the art with paper and pen. This time, though, my drawings just didn't work out. I tried several versions. My final attempt was to do the entire drawing with the computer. I used the paint program that came preinstalled with my computer. It was a challenge and meant learning to do things differently. I worked on it all evening, and I am surprised at how well it turned out. I hope you like it.

There are a lot of things you can do to make this picture beautiful. The background can be dark blue or light blue, like the sky, or it can be light at the bottom and become darker to the top. The stars can be left white or yellow, or gold foil star stickers can be used on them. The rays can be yellow, orange, or any color, and you can make the colors go through the spectrum like the rainbow. The frame bars can be a contrasting color for interest.  The letters are opened and can be colored in too.

THE VERSE

In my weekly activity children's bulletin, I have 10 different verses every week. In order to keep the material fresh, I have to spend hours searching for scriptures that are not repeated in the same manner in the printable. When I came across this verse it seemed like a good message for today's youth. A message about humility and trust in God. 

1 Peter 5:6-7 says, "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." 1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT.

The teaching of these verses covers several areas of the Christian life that we need today. First, we need to be humble, this is like a lost virtue in today's world, especially in youth. This scripture tells us to trust God. It tells us to wait on His timing. It assures us that He will lift us up.  These are all ideas that we need to teach today's children.
