This week's issue is number 79. Each activity is scripture-focused. As the children do the activities, they are exposed to God's Word.  This is not Bible stories and pictures of Noah's ark but verses that are carefully chosen for the potential to change their lives. 

HOW IT STARTED

I started to make these a few years ago, and at first, I mailed them to the kids who came to our church summer camp. It was well-received but a lot of work and expensive. Later I made them and gave them to the kids as they departed from Bible class as an extra take home.  I don't teach Bible classes for the kids anymore but spend more time creating these printables than I ever did when teaching Bible camp or Sunday school. But now, these are reaching kids, and adults, in more places than I have ever been able to go to.  

WHAT IT IS ABOUT

I spend about three hours every week choosing the scriptures for the issue.  These are not just "God loves you" verses but also scriptures about God's holiness, justice, and glory. I choose verses that call us to discipleship, worship, service, and thankfulness. I spend a lot of time thinking about the discussion questions that accompany the bulletin. The discussion questions are simple but still have depth. You can sit with your child and do the activities together, then use the prompt question to begin a discussion they would never have had otherwise.

WHY IS IT ONLY $3.50 A MONTH?

I spend between 20 and 30 hours every week creating BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY, and it is just too much of an investment of my time to post all that work and only receive an occasional donation while I bear all the expense on my own. Still, the minimum fee Patreon collects only covers the basics. 

You could spend all day Saturday creating something like this or pay hundreds a year for materials from one of the major publishers of Christian literature. But you will burn out designing these every week (I'm on issue 79- would who else would get that far?) And those publishers all publish the same things that do not challenge. How do your kids get the whole counsel of God that way?

This maze is a free sample from BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22, NLT ©. 

When I select scripture for each issue I look up the different translations to find the clearest one that is appropriate for young minds. I avoid long difficult words or words that are only doctrine specific.  In this case, I used the NLT because some translations use the words "deceive," "merely," and the word, "doer" which I thought were confusing to children even though those translations were accurate and embraced the truth of God's word.

This verse is an often overlooked scripture on thankfulness, but the Bible is so full of verses on thankfulness that it is not surprising.

1 Chronicles 16:8-9 says,

"Give thanks to the Lord; call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples. Sing to him; sing praise to him; tell about all his wondrous works!" 1 Chronicles 16:8-9. 

I spent three days designing this picture and traced the border art at least 5 times. Even after all that work I still had to scan it into the computer and clean it up with Microsoft Paint. But I am glad I did all that because I am delighted with how it turned out. I hope it is a blessing to you.

As you can see there are a lot of opportunities to be creative and make a colorful picture. There are a lot of vines and flowers to color in and the border frame can be a contrasting color for interest. If you use a pale hue for the background the picture will look more like an ancient illuminate page.

This is a free print and color page for Ezekiel 36:26.

This is a powerful scripter of promise and hope in God.  It helps us in our struggle with our own rebellion against God and righteousness. We will sooner or later realize that no matter how much we try, we can't really change who we are at our most inner being. But here, we have a promise that God can and will change us in our most deeper foundational way. He will take our heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh; these words are more than poetry; they reveal deep spiritual truths. 

Ezekiel 36:26 says, 

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26.

Is There a Fun Way For my Children to Get God's Word at Home?

Do you worry that your kids are not being exposed enough to God's Word? 

Bible clubs, Sunday school, and Children's Church have their place, but God gave your kids to you, not to a program or club, no matter how good. (I love Sunday school and Awana's Bible clubs and have taught both for years. They are great so take advantage of them when you can!). I felt that if my church blessed my kids, I had an obligation to give back. So I always taught in the children's department. Each week I created a coloring page for the kids. This is one of the most famous scripture passages. It is a favorite for memory work.  It encourages us to be humble and promises that God will bless us if we do.  Significantly, the following verse admonishes us to "cast" our anxiety on the Lord. Is it because we must be humble before we can cast our burdens on the Lord? This verse gives us much to think about, but we can all agree that it is comforting that "He cares for you." That care is abundantly clear when we see his Son on the cross dying for our sins.

Typically, I spend days designing one of these coloring pages, but this one came off rather quickly.  I used some resources and did some cut-and-paste techniques on the computer to pull it together. This one only took a day to finish. I wanted the picture to be interesting and offer many opportunities for creative expression.

How Can You Share The Gospel To Your Kids or Grandkids When They Are Far From You?

THE BEST OF GOD'S WORD

Each issue has ten Bible verse activities that are really exciting and powerful. I spent hours choosing the verses for this issue, and some of these scriptures challenge us no matter our age: but remember, God's Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:10-11). Issue 77 has a mix of scriptures that include the Gospel, worship, teaching, and discipleship.

Issue 77 was a lot of work for me. I had to recreate the crossword puzzle at least twice. The cipher puzzle was complex because I created a new pictograph alphabet, which sounded like a good idea, but it was hard to get images that worked in the scale created by the space I had for it. I spent more time on one of the coloring pages than I would normally, and I spent a day on the Bible verse maze puzzle. In the end, it turned out great, and I am very proud of the results. I pray the Lord uses this issue to plant the seed of His Word in hearts.

This wonderful verse inspires us to imitate the believers in ancient Berea and search the scriptures to ensure that what we are taught is genuinely God's message.  It is a good verse to memorize and to teach from.

Below is a printable stained glass-style coloring page of Isaiah 53:6.

Isaiah 53:6 is one of those scriptures we often share when we understand that we are lost and far from God. It is a word picture of the sheep, and somehow, that powerfully catches our imagination. We relate the helplessness of the sheep and its wandering. The verse takes us from our need for rescue to the one God has sent to fulfill that need by substituting or standing in for our judgment.

MY ORIGINAL ART

Even though this picture looks simple, I still worked on it all evening, from dinner to bedtime. I used a lightbox and a fine-tipped marker to trace the design several times. I wanted something that looked like a cathedral-stained glass window. 

I create these coloring pictures because I love God's Word, and I hope they are a blessing to you. 

COLOR THE PICTURE

You can have a lot of fun coloring this scripture page. I would recommend using four or five colors for the geometric shape; if you do not use enough variety, then at some point, you will have two shapes with the same color, so use four or more colors or hues of the same color can be fun. You can try to leave the letters white. The frame bars can be a contrasting color that is not part of the background.

Children like to color the pictures with crayons, but if you try fine-tipped markers or colored pencils like my favorite, Prismacolor, you can get into the smaller areas. Prismacolor pencils can be found at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. (I always look for coupons online.) The letters are big enough to color in.

Free Amos 5:14 print and Color Page, Seek Good, Not Evil Bible Verse.

Below is a free Amos 5:14 print and color page. 

This verse is an excellent scripture of challenge. It is also a promise. We are to seek good, which means striving for and working for good.  It also says not to seek evil, so we must be discerning and know the difference between good and evil.  God is good; if His spirit is in us, we must be characterized by doing good.  The promise is that God will show himself to be among us, but it doesn't say how. Might it be because he will bless or give some miracle or testimony through the Spirit? Or he could keep that part to himself until the time comes.

I spent four days creating this picture. I wanted something that looked like an illuminated text from the past. After working out the concept, I used a lightbox to trace the design repeatedly, making the necessary changes. I am happy with how it turned out, and I hope you are blessed by it. 

There are many ways you can color this to make it beautiful.  

• There are a lot of vines and flowers around the border that can be in different shades of green.
• The flowers can be a lot of different bright colors. 
• The frame bars can be some contrasting colors.
• You can use multiple colors for the background since the frame bars separate the border from the main area.

You might ask why I choose the Romans 8:15 verse for one of the ten in this children's activity bulletin. I do not apologize for giving the hard sayings of the Bible, because when we only teach the easy, fun verses about love and fulfillment that are easy and require nothing of us, then our youth grow up with a view of Christ, the church, and faith as something shallow, easy, and requires nothing of them. But being a generation of activism, they are looking for something to live for, and a shallow faith does not resound to them, so they pursue other causes to live for. 

However, like all others, this issue contains many of the "favorites" that we all cherish.

Do you need a Children's Bible Activity Bulletin for Your Program?

Here is a summary of this week's BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY, a printable activity booklet. I make this every week for kids in church, Bible club, camps, and wherever God's Word is loved. It is sent to those who support my blog with a small monthly donation.

Is it suitable for your program? 

This children's activity bulletin is a wonderful tool to advance God's Message to young hearts.  It is versatile and can be used in multiple ways. 

• Some Awana clubs give them out as a take-home; others use them as an extra free time activity or to supplement the craft time.  
• Some churches put them at the back of the sanctuary with some colored pencils for the kids to have quiet activity while waiting for the service to end. 
• Some teachers keep issues in classrooms as a resource for the class.  
• One friend told me she uses the activities as a lesson for a particular need's child. It is a one-on-one situation where they spend the time doing the activities together and discussing the verse, "As the Lord leads." 
• Distribute this at Upwards sport nights each week
• This bulletin can be mailed to absent attendees to let them know they were missed.
• It can be part of a follow-up program by mail or email after an outreach event to children.
• And there are many more ways to list here.

This verse is a great promise that our lives of discipleship need not be lives of failure but lives of abundance because God has provided all we need. Sometimes we feel that we have to do it or we are missing some formula that is supposed to give us blessings. But we do not need to do anything because it is given and if it is all given our lives become a matter of receiving.

I started working on creating this picture on Friday evening and finished it on Sunday evening. It went through a lot of changes and revisions. I am happy with how it turned out and hope you are blessed. 

There are many ways to color this picture to make it beautiful. There are lots of ribbons and flowers around the border to color, and the letters are opened enough to be colored in. You can color the frame bars a contrasting number, and the background can be a different hue.

Here is a free Bible verse word search puzzle for Matthew 6:19-20.

The word search puzzle below is a free sample from issue 75 of BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY, an activity bulletin for kids. It is my thank you gift available every week to those who support my blog through Patreon. It has 10 Bible verse activities for kids grades k-5. This Matthew 6:19-20 word search appears in the right section of page 1. The left section is available only to subscribers.  It is designed to be printed two-sided and bi-folded like a bulletin or program. 

WHY A CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY BULLETIN

When the grown-ups are greeted at church do they get a bulletin but the kids don’t? What is that saying to the kids? BIBLE TIME FUN WEEKLY is a perfect children's bulletin for your meetings.  Mom and Dad get an important bulletin and so do they.  Then while the kids are waiting for the program or church service to begin they can quietly do the activities.

Matthew 6:19-20 says,

Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. Matthew 6:19-20 HCSB ©.

I started to make Bible verse activity handouts when I was teaching a children's Bible club called Awanas. I used them to fill free time and as an alternate craft time activity. They became popular so I started to put them online on this blog. I am deeply grateful that they are used all over the world, and have been a blessing to many people.
